Towards a new, peace focused organisation for Wales

Following a visit to the Flemish Peace Institute and a number of informal discussions, momentum has developed during 2009 for the establishment of somekind of organisation that would firmly embed the principles of peaceful development in Welsh life.

A first formal meeting was hosted on March 14th by Cynefin y Werin, the all-Wales peace and justice network. The meeting was attended by a range of different people, including academics, politicians, international development workers, religious groups and peace campaigners.

A subsequent meeting on 4th July considered two draft documents to be used in the development of a Wales Peace Institute / Academi Heddwch Cymru.

This website is intended to be used as a resource for those involved in helping to establish a Wales Peace Institute / Academi Heddwch Cymru.

At this early development stage, all material is in draft format and undergoing regular revision. At present, the site is designed to serve our group need for communication and coordination. It will not be more widely publicised until we have reached some consensus on a variety of issues.
